This exhibition explores the themes of emptiness, reflection, and connection. Through familiar materials such as cardboard boxes, the artist transforms everyday objects into symbols of personal yet shared human experiences.

While living in Tainan, Taiwan, Kim has collected used cardboard boxes from local shops and neighbors. She documents her travels and daily encounters through drawings and writings, allowing these personal reflections to grow into works that examine the relationship between place and self. The process of connecting with people and places is a central part of her artistic practice.

The artist believes that genuine connections arise not from intention, but from quiet, unexpected moments. In a world where personal needs often take precedence, others’ emotions can be stored and discarded like boxes. Worn-out boxes reveal the fragility of relationships—but also hold the potential for new ones.

The title is inspired by the contemplative pose of the Pensive Bodhisattva. The use of cardboard and orchid imagery reflects emotional vessels and quiet traces of connection. Orchids, which the artist often saw in Taiwanese homes and public parks, grow by leaning on other plants—yet maintain their own life force. To her, they resemble how people live within relationships.
