(Disembodied Posture)

Yi-ting Wang, born in 1985, is a Taiwanese visual artist. She graduated from the Marseille-Mediterranean College of Art and Design in 2016. In 2017, Yi-ting was one of the awardees of Next Art Tainan. Her works have been showcased in France and around Taiwan.

Yi-ting utilizes natural materials to explore the essence of life and the exchange and circulation of all visible and invisible energy. Through the repeating process of construction and deconstruction, Yi-ting thickens the shapes of natural objects. She infuses her energy into the withering objects, and thus creates a state for the objects. In Eastern philosophy, pine trees, often represent long-living, are highly regarded. People will grow pine trees to fit certain aesthetics and spiritual aspiration through artificial manipulation. Yi-ting is deeply fascinated by that long shaping process collaborated by human and nature, which also leads her towards the side people not talk about pine tree, it’s decaying. In this body of work, Yi-ting attempts to investigate issues that seem to be contradictory, such as life and death; extension and termination; growth and decay; and existence and disappearance.
