Ping Pong: Reflecting about reflection
The English term reflection has a double meaning. It refers to the physical as to the mental realm. The physical is about the turning back of waves, like light, sound or heat if encountering a surface. This follows a very simple law (angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection). The law is simple, but its consequences can be rather astonishing, surprising and beautiful. In the mental world reflection connotes thinking, be it logical thinking or a more contemplative way of thinking, a careful consideration.
The exhibition of the German artist Margit Busch deals with both meanings, it combines the physical and the mental realm. It transfers physical phenomena into a poetic language facilitating intuitive understanding. It is an invitation to reflect about reflection.
Margit Busch completed a car mechanic apprenticeship in Berlin and holds a MS in biology. She studied Art & Science at
the University of Applied Arts, Vienna and received the Kunsthalle Wien Prize in 2016.
